Post Holiday Updates

Just another update after the Holiday Season here...Over the past two
months I acquired a great deal of equipment finally rounding out
threesixtyfive Studios. New arrivals include:

*JBL LSR 4300 6' Monitors*

Great monitors with a cool "Room Mode Correction" feature that tailors the sound to any acoustic situation.

*Mackie Onyx Satellite*

Same great preamps that I use rackmounted in the studio, only in a portable, firewire bus-powered package for remote recording.

*Full Mogami Cabling*

New Updates (and Equipment?)

As I've been playing with Jake Diebold and Carson Brown of Funk You
(www.myspace.com/funkyou12), I've began to realize that we have some
serious recording potential. Really all that we've been doing are jams
and cover songs, something that will go on for a while. Although it is
nothing serious at this point, I have hopes for forming a band with
these guys. Serious potential. Anyways, as usual I have my eye on a few
pieces of gear for this holiday season. They are as following:

Progress and Plans

After refining my skills in the past few months, I have managed to
produce three songs with my setup. Originals "Behind", "Home Again",
and a cover of "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie
have been racked up close to 900 plays this summer on MySpace and
PureVolume. After looking into it, the iTunes Music Store seems like a
great place for me to sell my music. Cycling top-ranking songs brings
hope of possible album sales. My plans for the end of this year are to
refine my existing tracks, and compile them with unrecorded originals

New Mics

I finally broke down and bought a condenser. I would have liked to buy
the Neumann TLM 103, but a 1000.00 dollar mic isn't quite in my budget
at this point...I did get a sweetass deal today though! I decided on
the Rode NT2-A, which has variable polar pickup patterns (Omni,
Cardioid, and Figure 8); high-pass filters (0 dB, -5 dB, and -10 dB);
and variable pad (Flat, 80 Hz, 40 Hz). Aside from the point that I
don't know what any of that means (aside from the variable patterns), I
will learn and make some sweet babymaking music for you! Billy at

Summing Up

After about two weeks of use and two recordings, I can safely say that
I absolutely love the Mackie preamp. I put all of my trust into this
company for their quality of sound and excellence in craftsmanship.
After hearing the sound quality of other firewire preamps in it's price
range, the Onyx 400F is hands down the best buy. The simple and clean
layout of the controls makes for a pleasant studio experience. Lately
I've been using the Shure Beta 57A to track Vocals and Acoustic Guitar.
It will have to do until I can get my hands on a good Condenser,

Surprises

About five minutes after I posted last, the Onyx 400f arrived at my
door...talk about coincidence! I spent a long afternoon in the studio
with bassist Henry Boos recording our new single "Behind". It should be
posted on PureVolume and MySpace within a few days. The Mackie Onyx
preamps sound nothing short of professional, yielding a very warm and
clear sound. They help make the Beta 57A extremely versatile, as I
recorded the Parkwood acoustic guitar and the vocals on it. I'm still
getting used to the preamp and the Traction 2 software, but hopefully

Missing Interface

It's Wednesday, and of course, no Mackie Interface. Billy at Guitar
Center said it didn't ship until Tuesday, so I should be recieving it
tomorrow...hopefully. Anyways, threesixtyfive Studios have been
rearranged and reconfigured to make way for the recording of 365
Alaska's album. The use of a Tivoli Satellite Stereo will suffice for a
monitoring system when the Sony MDR-7506 cans arent being
used...hopefully the Tivoli's arent too colored! More updates and
pictures when the Mackie Arrives! This time I mean it.

Humble Beginnings

Well I guess today marks the beginning of my summer project -
threesixtyfive Studios. After months of product research I finally went
ahead and bought the basic components of my project studio, which
include:

- Mackie Onyx 400f Firewire Interface

- Shure Beta 57A Instrument Microphone
